Morse says financial software is Y2K compliant

By RUSS WHITE

SEMINOLE COUNTY - Clerk of the Circuit Court Maryanne Morse, wishing to eliminate any doubts others had, has County Chairman Carlton Henley that Pentamation, the county’s financial systems software is Year 2000 compliant.

She turned over letters of certification for Pentamation, the Hewlett-Packard 9000 K-class server upon which it resides and the Informix database engine it utilizes.

"This information would clear up any confusion that exists regarding the Clerk’s Office and Y2K readiness issues," Morse told Henley. "We’re up! We’re ready! We’re on time!"

In a packet she mailed to each of the county commissioners and Acting County Manager Cindy Coto, Morse included a confirmation of readiness from Larry Kientz, General Manager of Pentamation Florida Operations in Pembroke Pines.

Kientz listed the government resource modules which are under maintenance and have been upgraded to the Year 2000 Ready version on the county’s computer system and the customs modules that have been migrated to the county’s Year 2000 Ready computer system and tested in conjunction with upgraded government resource modules.

To further verify that all components will operate effectively at the turn of the century, Kientz said a test of customizations would be conducted before July 1.

Morse said she was concerned that a recent memorandum from county staff members indicated that Pentamation was "compliant," "Non-compliant," and "Partially compliant" all within the first four pages.

"We are compliant," Morse said.

Al Hill, the Geographic Information Service manager for Seminole County, made the county’s software system Year 2000 compliant before most municipalities began their efforts.
